Feast of Our Lady of Portosalvo

The main festival of late summer very characteristic for the procession at sea in honor of Our Lady of portosalvo. For the locals it is a very intimate moment of prayer and for vacationers a very impressive and exciting event. The streets and houses are decorated with ribbons, balloons and written dedicated to mary, in a short time the country is colored blue and white in honor of the Saint. The beach is full of people and fishing boats are prepared to feast to follow the procession. As a sign of devotion the statue is placed on a boat while the faithful are arranged on other boats to accompany the procession. They sing songs following the path along the coast from velia to the rocks of torre del telegrafo. On the way back we stopped in front of the homonymous church and go in procession by land through the old town.
